Part 3
When: June 9th-12th
Where: B-E-A-utiful San Diego, CA
Who: This crazy Hunsaker Bunch
&
The hostesses with the mostest- Aunt Terry & Aunt Michelle!!!:)
This was such a needed vacation... It was so good to spend some time with Aunt Terry & Aunt Michelle- they are WAY too good to us:) And it had been YEARS since Shane & I had seen the ocean! So we were due for a trip here. We went to the beach the first day... It was both of the boys' first time seeing the ocean too. Jaxon LOVED everything about the beach- the sand, the waves, the kelp, etc... We couldn't keep him away! He would squish the sand with his toes, he kept crawling out to the waves... I'd say he's a fan!
Drake, not so much. But he sure had fun diggin' in the sand with Dad! Infact, Drake didn't love the waves so much that they made a barrier so the water wouldn't get him when the tide came in. Awesomeness. To be honest, I couldn't tell you who was having more fun doing it: Dad or Drake?:)
We celebrated a couple birthdays while we were there too!!! Aunt Michelle's was the day we came in. We had a fabulous dinner with her & Aunt Terry at their condo & topped it off with some cake, of course!
The next day, it was over cast so we decided we would drive around & do some site-seeing. First we stopped off at Seal Beach. Shane said his family would go there a lot when he was little & check out the tide pools so he thought that would be something fun for the babies. We missed the tide pools but the boys thought the seals were pretty entertaining:) We wanted to go to Coronado Island to shop around but that's about when the day took a small turn. On the way there on the freeway, it started to rain. When I went to turn on my windshield wipers, there was a huge CRACK! sound & before we had time to realize what was going on, one of them popped off! Hmm... Kind of an omen, now that we think about it.
When we got to Coronado Island, we found a really good parking spot across from the beach & the Hotel del Coronado (Love that place, thanks to the Stoleworthy's!!!:)), we decided we were gonna go shop around. After we got the boys loaded in the stroller, we realized we had sustained a flat tire. It still worked so we figured we'd just go with the flat anyway. We made it around the block & were getting ready to cross a busy street when the front wheel just fell off... Bolts & washers rolling everywhere. Not the flat tire, a completely different one! MAJOR BUMMER. We ended up basically carrying the stroller back to the car. We found a Wal-Mart in a pretty scary part of town to pick up some tools & tire stuff so we wouldn't be stuck carrying the boys everywhere at Sea World........ Good gracious, it was scary! Before we decided to call it a day, when Shane was coming out of the store, a lady with a baby approached him asking for money or food for her baby & 2 other kids. We didn't have cash otherwise we might've been able to help her but when Shane told her that, she rolled her eyes & was rude, sh acted all put out that we couldn't give her anything... Oy, yeah, we went straight home after that to say the least!
Next day was MUCH better! We went to Sea World with Michelle & we had an absolute blast! I had been prepping Drakey for this for a few weeks so he LOVED seeing all the fish. Haha he didn't love the fish you could touch, like the Sting Rays or the Starfish, but he sure loved to watch them! Some of his favorites (& ours! Again, one of those "who's having more fun" days!:)) were the whales & dolphins! Here's some pics.
The boys LOVED the Shamu show!
I thought Drake would be tramatized by the sharks (He hates the ones on Finding Nemo!) But they're actually one of his favorites now. Who'da thunk? They still freak me out!
The next day was Shane's 24th birthday!!!:) How did the birthday boy want to spend it? On the beach, of course! We hung out there for awhile until some annoying people ran us off (WHOLE other story...) but we had a good time there!
Happy Birthday Daddy!!! I'd say he looks PRETTY happy, indeed:)
Overall, the trip was a success & we all left happy! We're already missing it... A big thanks to Aunt Terry & Aunt Michelle, who made it such a fun vacation for us. We love you 2 so much! We definitely can't wait to come visit again... :)
