What's new in the month of June!

1.) Shane is getting older!!!;o)

Shane had his 23rd birthday on the 12th. For some reason, I just love that day... It could be that that was the day my very best friend came into this world:o) But it's just a really good day!

He had to work but he didn't go in until late, so we just picked up some breakfast and went to Power Ranch lake and had a picnic & fed the ducks (One of Drake's very favorite things to do! He is just so fascinated with them.) Usually, I don't get to surprise Shane with him working at a bank and having access to our accounts to see where I'm buying things or how much I'm spending... until I wised up this last Christmas and made him get a gift account that is for my eyes only!:o) So while he was at work, Drake and I got his surprise presents and waited for him to come home...

We went to dinner at one of Shane's very favorite restaurants, Gecko Grill, for his main craving- a shrimp mango quesadilla. He said his birthday was made just from that... But then we went home to sing him happy birthday, eat one of the YUMMIEST ice cream cakes from Cold Stone that I have ever had! That was surprise #1 for Shane cuz he is always asking for an ice cream cake. Score 1 of 2 for Mom & D!:o) Then he opened THE present that he has been bugging me for constantly for almost a year.... a Wii Sport... And boy was he surprised! I honestly love it when that happens. It makes me feel good!:oD And he loves it! We've played it every night until it's almost too late for us... And my arm feels like it's gonna fall off, haha! But yes, so I'm pretty sure Drake & I were 2 for 2 in the surprise and present department. I hope it was a good day for Shane though! We sure do love you Daddy!!!!!

2.)New do!

The momma couldn't take looking like an old lady anymore, just pulling the long hair into a pony-tail or bun. So I chopped off at least 10 inches! I love love LOVE the shortness! Easy to do. Nice for the summer! Long over due! :o) (Pics to come...)

3.) New Car!

Shane finally parted ways with the dearly beloved and old family friend- "Red" truck. We probably would've kept it if not for the fact that our family is growing rapidly, gas prices are not really truck friendly, AND the a/c didn't work. In AZ, you can only take that so long. So when we were looking at our options, Shane put the truck up on Craigslist.com just to see if we'd get any offers, and sure enough! We had it sold within about a week of posting at not too much lower than we had asked for.

Since we had so much success in selling on Craigslist, we thought we'd try buying off of there too. So Shane did some research and figured he wanted to look into the next best thing after a truck- an SUV. He found a sweet deal on this Durango on a Sunday, went to test drive it the next day, and loved it (Shane especially loved how cold the a/c ran!!!:o)) and we were sold! Now Shane just can't wait to take it camping and loves that it can fit our whole family very comfortably and then some in the future!:o)

And last but not least.......

4.) A new house!!!!!!

Yep! It's true. It's been so crazy how fast everything has moved with this & just how well everything has fallen into place... But we have been soooo blessed with all of it so far! So for those of you feeling hurt that we are close friends and I didn't even let you know about it- really, it has moved so fast that I haven't had the time to really share! Plus, I didn't want to share just incase something fell through...

So we went to our friends', Clint & Traci, house for a get together and we loved their house! They told us what a good experience it was to buy it from the deal they got to even the people they worked with. Shane & I had thrown the idea around a few months ago but decided not to with the new baby on the way. But after talking with them, we started talking about the possibilities and just how badly we don't love the campus housing so much anymore. Not that it's a bad place- it was great for starting out and definitely beat the heck out of getting an apartment! But there are just some things that have come up that weren't there when we first moved in, not to mention now is a fabulous time to buy! So very many incentives!

Anyway... we started seriously looking into those days after visiting Traci & Clint. We went to talk with the real estate agent that they went through. Turns out they had a model home that was for sale now that came with everything already (Landscaping done, appliances & blinds included, not to mention some lovely upgrades:o)) So Shane & went home loving it but not so much the price. I told him when we were driving home "If only they would lower the price a little bit!"..... Ask & ye shall receive!:o) We got a call on Wednesday saying they lowered it by $10,000!!! So yeah... Needless to say, we hopped right on that.

We moved in this last weekend (and I hate the moving process, might I add. If my stuff could've magically made its way over to the new house, I would've LOVED that!!!:o)) But thanks to our families and a couple good friends, they made the transition as easy as possible for us and were SOOO very helpful! We definitely appreciate them!

Drakey is still getting used to having his own room. He doesn't love having to scream at us in the morning for us to come get him... :o/ Poor guy. But It's so nice to have more space. And NICE space at that! Sunday we had both families over for our first BBQ dinner... My dad said to me, "Lonz, I think this the first time you've ever had us over!" I said, "I know! Because it's the first time we actually have had space enough to!!!" Haha so that was fun!

But yes, we are moved in and are LOVING it!!! (Pics of the house to come as well, as soon as we get the internet going!:o))

Also, I know like tons of people in that ward (Shumway's, Kyle and Morgan Slade, Brendon and Nikki Saline.....do you know any of them??) AND congratulations on the new house (and hair cut)! I can't wait to see lots of pictures!!!
